Rockstar Games flexes, confirming gorgeous new GTA 6 trailer is all in-game

Yeah, they DID that.

In case anyone was unconvinced by the validity of the visuals in Grand Theft Auto 6’s gorgeous new trailer, the game’s developer Rockstar Games has come out to nonchalantly confirm it’s all legit.

Rockstar followed up yesterday’s surprise drop trailer that broke the internet with confirmation that all of the beautiful visuals in GTA 6’s second trailer were “captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5,” and not only that, but the footage is “comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes.”

It’s tough to blame anyone for being skeptical of whether the lifelike visuals in the trailer were pre-rendered or real. They’re just that impressive. And the detail shines through even further with a slew of screenshots to go right alongside it, and so Rockstar felt compelled to confirm what was shown and how after the online discussion centered around everything about the trailer since it released.

A lot of game companies use PC footage to showcase their games, even if the game isn’t available on the platform. GTA 6 also won’t be at launch (it will most likely come to PC some time after), since it represents the best visual quality possible. But if this is what it looks like on PS5 (base model or Pro not specified), then we’re in for a feast for the eyes.

Getting the game to run smoothly, however, is a different story entirely. With fans expecting 60 FPS at minimum as the industry standard now on consoles, it remains to be seen if the ambitiously massive map and high-fidelity imagery will provide a crisp experience without frame drops.

GTA 6 is likely the biggest entertainment launch in the history of anything, including movies, books, TV shows, and everything in between. The development cost is likely reaching into several billions of dollars when all is said and done. And so, it will be under the microscope from day one once it launches.

For now, though, Rockstar is saying that its first steps towards actually releasing the game should get your hopes up for what else is to come. If the release date trailer was already this hyped, imagine what actual gameplay footage and GTA Online news will garner…or at least what expectations will now be.
