One of the best ways to ensure success in Monster Train 2 is to upgrade your units, and over time, you can turn some of them into Champion-like creatures.
While the Champion is the star of your deck, you’ll have to rely heavily on the units within your deck. These refer to the non-Champion creatures, and you can upgrade them during a run. The upgrades can be of different types, depending on your chosen path.
This guide will provide you with all the important information required to upgrade the units.
How does unit upgrades work in Monster Train 2
Every unit starts with a basic Strike (Damage), Abilities, and Health. Upgrades can be obtained in different ways, allowing you to improve your units. The improvements can be solely towards one department or affect two or more aspects of the card.
The easiest way to upgrade your units is to look out for Merchant of Steel Nodes. It’s very easy to identify them: just hover your mouse pointer on them, and the game will tell you their name. The Merchant of Steel Nodes solely allows you to focus on improving your units.
Every node will offer four different upgrades. You can apply as many as you want from the available options in exchange for Gold. The four options you get are random, but you can choose to reroll in exchange for 50 Gold.

Once you choose an option, select the unit you want to improve. You’ll get first to see how the improved card will look in terms of its in-game stats, Health, Effects, and Damage.
