If you want a fun weapon in Fortnite, the Star Wars Galactic Battles Lightsaber is what you need. These lightweight swords let your character rapidly swing them around to take out enemies quickly. They even have special abilities, depending on your alignment.
The difficult part is learning where to find them. Although you can get lucky and obtain a Lightsaber through player elimination drops, there are a few guaranteed spawns you can explore. Here’s exactly how to find a Lightsaber during Fortnite Chapter Six, season three.

How to find Lightsabers in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battles
There are three ways to find Lightsabers during Fortnite’s Star Wars Galactic Battles season:
- Talk to Training Rift NPC holograms that randomly spawn in your Fortnite matches
- Loot from enemy players
- Defeat Darth Vader
The best way to get one is to find one of Fortnite’s Training Rift Gate NPCs and join the Jedi or the Sith. Below is a list of every NPC you can find at the time of writing:
- Rey
- Darth Sidious
- Mace Windu
- Darth Maul
You can find them by looking for faction icons on your in-game map during a match. These markers appear after the first storm starts, so you’ll have to survive for a couple of minutes before spotting them. Every icon has swords in the center, with Rey’s being blue, Mace Windu’s being purple, and both Darth Maul and Darth Sidious’ being red. Their spawn locations and which NPCs appear per match are completely random, and you’re not guaranteed to find every character each time.

Visiting one of these locations and talking to the gate’s hologram will reward you with a Lightsaber of your chosen faction during the round, letting you use their respective abilities alongside your usual attacks.
Alternatively, you can loot Lightsabers off other players. While you’re not guaranteed to get one with every elimination, there’s a chance you’ll find one if they have one in their inventory while fighting you. Your best bet is to look for people swinging Lightsabers around, particularly during fights with other players, to ensure you secure one after a swift defeat. Otherwise, you can try to get lucky and pick one up by fighting anyone you encounter throughout the match.
Your last option is heading down to Vader Samurai’s Solitude to fight Darth Vader. Defeating him gives you a special Lightsaber with a unique ability, Force Saber Throw. But other players will likely contest this spot, so watch your surroundings as you approach this area.
Overall, this method differs from previous Fortnite seasons that required you to fight Darth Vader to get a Lightsaber. Nowadays, talking to the right people—or, in this case, holograms—is how you’ll get one without much trouble. Fighting Darth Vader will reward you with a special Lightsaber, but doing so is completely optional.
All Lightsaber abilities in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battles
The Lightsaber ability you gain depends on which faction you align yourself with during your Fortnite matches and whether you’re using Darth Vader’s version. All five Lightsaber types come with the following abilities:
- Regular attacks
- Block (Hold right-click or your aim button)
- Force Jump (Press space while airborne)
Each Lightsaber also has a unique Force Ability. Here’s a list of every Lightsaber type and their extra abilities:
- Rey’s Jedi Padawan Lightsaber: Force Push
- Darth Sidious’s Sith Lightsaber: Force Lightning
- Darth Maul’s Sith Lightsaber: Force Throw
- Mace Windu’s Lightsaber: Force Pull
- Darth Vader’s Sith Lightsaber: Force Saber Throw
If you join the Jedi and talk to Rey, you’ll gain a blue Lightsaber and access to Force Push. For anyone looking to side with the Sith, speak to Darth Sidious or Darth Maul to get a red Lightsaber instead alongside Force Lightning or Force Throw. Another option is Mace Windu’s purple Lightsaber, granting you Force Pull to bring enemies closer to you.
While some are defensive weapons that can knock opponents away, including off high ledges or into the storm, others, like Force Lightning and Force Throw, are offensive attacks intended to inflict extra damage to your foes. Similarly, Darth Vader’s version grants you Force Saber Throw, letting you throw your Lightsaber at your enemies if you prefer a more chaotic fighting style.
